Hello!
My name is Lydia Martin. Currently, I am a freshman at Indiana University. I am majoring in elementary education and minoring in psychology. Ideally, I would love to teach younger elementary students, like second graders, but I know that I would be content with any opportunity I find to teach. I cannot wait to teach and knowing that every day I am one student closer to my goal of changing the lives of students through education is incredibly exciting!
My Pedagogical Beliefs:
I believe that each and every student has potential and is unique and can learn and grow in the right circumstances. As a future educator, it will be my job to ensure that the environment not only stimulates educational growth but also allows the students to exist in a community within the classroom and school that is happy and healthy and supports each child. I aim to teach my students that there is always a way to solve problems in a positive way with hard work and an open mind. I will be preparing students for the future, and that means supporting their ideas and voices in addition to their education.
Technology in the Classroom:
Technology can be a useful tool in the classroom. As a future educator, I intend to use technology in the classroom to supplement the student's education in a way that allows students to further their understanding or explore new concepts, with the understanding that while technology is an incredible tool for learning, it doesn't replace all aspects of human to human interaction and education
